Monument of Romanian polyglot Gheorghe Sincai was blessed in Slovakian village of Svinica
On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, a memorial ceremony took place in the village of Svinica in connection with the unveiling of the monument to Gheorghe Sincai, author of the first synthetic history of Romanians, founder of the modern Romanian nation and polyglot, who founded more than 300 Greek Catholic schools in Romania.
NAPS Council members Peter and Lenka Solej received the invitation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Slovakia, H. E. Mr. Calin Fabian, and participated in the event organized by the Embassy of Romania in Slovakia in cooperation with the municipality of Raciu – native village of Gheorghe Sincai as well as with the cooperation of the municipality of the village of Svinica, where the named historian and philologist died.
Following an international conference focusing on the historic area, the monument was inaugurated and blessed by Greek Catholic priests from Romania with the local administrator of the Greek Catholic parish. A personal message for this event was also sent by the Major Archbishop of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church, H. Em. Cardinal Lucian Muresan.
